Give Thanks Banner

Thanksgiving is coming up faster than I can believe. I'm seeing Christmas things everywhere and its starting to freak me out! It's time to get organized and start getting prepared for the holidays! Get ready to see tons of holiday recipes, decor and gift ideas in the the next few weeks. There's so much I want to do and so little time! I thought I would start the holiday preparations today by making a "Give Thanks" banner. I think it is such a cute idea for Thanksgiving. And its a nice reminder hanging in your home all month to be grateful for all of your blessings. How appropriate is it that Thanksgiving comes before all the hustle and bustle of Christmastime!? Here is how to make your own grateful reminder.

You will need:
Various scraps of fabric in Fall colors
Batting
Ribbon
Sewing Materials
Black paint
Letter stencils

1. Cut two, 5X5 1/4 inch squares of fabric for each letter of the banner. You can vary the colors or keep them all the same. All burlap is especially cute. Then cut out one 5X5 inch square out of batting for each letter. (You don't need batting if you are using burlap).

2. Sandwich one piece of batting between two squares of fabric for each letter you want to do.
3. Stencil and paint the squares in "Give Thanks" or "Thanksgiving" of "Grateful" letters in black.

4. Once the letters are dry, pin around the edges of each square and sew closed.

5. Pin the finished letters onto a length of ribbon and sew. Be careful that you measure the area where you are hanging your banner first. This will determine how long you want the ribbon to be and how you want to space the letters.

That's it! Now whenever you are feeling overwhelmed or starting to feel stressed about the upcoming holidays you can look over at your cute little banner, take a deep breath and take a good look at all of your many blessings.
