Hello friends! Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!
Before we left on our trip, I wanted to find bags for the girls that could hold all of their things for the plane ride. They had to be big enough to hold coloring books, stickers, crayons, books, little toys, snacks, but still be light enough that the girl's could carry them on their own. I first ordered some cute rolling duffle bags which ended up being so big that I used those to pack all of their clothes and things. They are great bags, and I highly recommend them. The brand is Wildkin and can be found on Amazon. While those bags were great because the girl's can technically pull them themselves, I still needed something for them to carry their entertainment in. And it is hard to find kid's bags that aren't covered in Sofia the First or Pink! So I made these cute little custom tote bags.
You will need:
13.5X13.5 Canvas tote bag (found at craft stores)
Craft paint
Paint brushes
Alphabet stencils
Fabric
Hot glue gun
14 inch zipper (If desired)
1. Stencil a saying of your choice onto the canvas tote using a stencil and light pencil. (It's hard to find pencils these days...does anyone use them anymore!?)
2. Then with a small paintbrush, paint in the letters. I did the last word in the sayings a different color to add a little interest.
3. Then if you want a little extra flair, you can make fabric rosettes (and you can see more how to create them in my Revamped Lamp tutorial) in coordinating colors. Hot glue them onto the bags.
4. Optional. I also added a 14 inch zipper to the tops of the bags, so that none of the girl's stuff would slide out while we were on the plane or if the bags were dropped, etc.
And that's it! Ready for travel!
Have a great week everyone!

Bunny Art
Happy Good Friday everyone! Are you ready for Easter? Princess has been talking about it non-stop and making up songs about "Easter time". (We are finally over "Heart Day"! Yay!) Yesterday she made up a song about Easter to the tune, "Farmer in the dell". It is too precious. I think this will be a really special Easter for our family. And I hope it will be for your families as well. I did get a chance to do a fun little Easter project before we headed out of town so I wanted to show that to you today. If you have a chance to stop by the craft store, this project doesn't take that long and you can have it done by the end of the day! I wanted to add a little "art" to our Easter decorations this year and one thing I noticed we are missing is bigger pieces like art or wall hanging pieces. So I thought these Easter bunny silhouettes would be a fun little addition.
You will need:
Plain canvases (Mine were about 8X11)
Craft paint (in colors of choice)
Paint brushes
Cotton balls (optional)
Pencil
Bunny stencils or free-hand bunny drawings. (If I had a printer, I would have just printed off a bunny silhouette and used that as my stencil, but I don't have one right now, so I just free-handed some bunnies and hoped they didn't look totally deformed.)
1. With a light pencil, use your stencil (either a real stencil, drawing cut-out or printed silhouette cut out) to trace the bunnies onto the canvas or canvases.
2. In the paint color of your choice (I used a light blue and light tan color) paint all around the bunny outline, making sure to get the edges of the canvas as well. Do 2 coats.
Allow to dry.
3. If desired, add a cotton ball "bunny tail" to your art. I think I just used my hot glue gun because it was out, but Elmer's glue should work just fine.
Done! Place somewhere fun! On the mantle, in a child's bedroom....I put one in our kitchen hutch and then other on our front entryway table.
I'm pretty happy with the way this blue one turned out. It actually looks like a bunny!
Have a wonderful and blessed Good Friday and Happy Easter weekend!

Easter Kitchen Hutch
Good Morning! We leave for our trip tonight and I am busily packing and preparing, but I thought I would stop by really quick and show you our kitchen hutch all decorated for Easter. Here she is.... I really should think of a name for her. I love her.
I stuck a piece of fabric in this frame (it usually holds sheet music) to change out the look and make it a little lighter. Framing fabric is a great/cheap way to make art in your home and it's so easy to switch out when you get bored of it.
I saw a similar bunny basket like this in the Pottery Barn catalog and wanted it so bad. Luckily I found a way cheaper one at Micheal's and with a few alterations, I was able to make it look just like the PB one!
Isn't he cute!?
Since I don't have any real cloches, I did a makeshift one out of an old vase. Not quite the same, but it's the same effect. I'm pretty proud of the moss/nest configuration inside.
I placed one of the Flower Headbands I made for the girls on the soup tureen. So pretty!
This little white bunny I found is so cute! It looks like it's praying!
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. We are headed out of town tonight, but I may have time to do some pre-posting, so come back for more while I'm gone!

Easter Decorations
Can you believe Easter is already this Sunday!? (I know it's April Fool's, but I'm not even kidding) How did it get here so fast? I feel like I haven't been able to do anything Easter-y and fun! That being said, I did finally get our Easter decorations pulled out. Princess was starting to wonder where they were. And I figured it would be nice to at least have a few days to enjoy them before we leave on our trip. (We are headed to Palm Springs and Disneyland!!! EEEK! I'm so excited) Since we will be out of town this Easter, I went pretty simple with everything. No fresh flowers and I didn't really have a chance to make any new decorations because I was so busy prepping for this trip! Since I am expecting, this is kind of going to be our only vacation we take before the baby comes, so I wanted everything to be perfect! Anyway, even though it is simple, I think the house turned out cute enough. Here are some pics.
These are the only flowers in my decorations. I just cut them from the flowers I recently planted on the front porch. It's been kind of cool having those. They are growing like crazy, so whenever I need a little freshness in the house I just go out and cut a few.
I kept our mantle the same. Partly because I was too lazy to figure out a new "Easter" decoration set up for it and partly because the greenery I put there is still in pretty good shape!
Here is our Easter tree. The girls had fun decorating it with me. There was a little replacement involved.....but not much.
You can see bits of our entertainment center here. I am still planning on getting a post up about it. One day! Hopefully soon!
This bunny is actually a nightlight from the girl's room. It barely fit in that birdcage. I shoved and pushed and prodded. The things you'll do for a little interesting decoration...
Hope you enjoyed and maybe found some inspiration for your Easter decorating!
I'll be back tomorrow with pictures of the kitchen hutch decorated for Easter. I didn't want to overwhelm you with a whole ton of pictures in one day!
