Happy 4th Of July!

Hope everyone is enjoying warm weather, yummy food, cold drinks and amazing fireworks today! What a fun holiday. We aren't usually in town for the 4th, (like this year) but it is really fun where we live. We are allowed to do fireworks and live very close to Indian territory, so we have access to the good stuff and people definitely take advantage of it. I remember Princess's first 4th of July. She was almost a year old and it was already dark (so late and past her bedtime), but we took her to the nearby park to watch all the fireworks going on around us. And they were going on ALL around us! It was seriously like a war zone. It was so loud and there was a constant stream of fireworks in the air. Smoke from all the gunpowder filled the air. Such a cool feeling. I love that we celebrate our independence by blowing stuff up. So American. BOOM!

If you have some free time today between all the parades, food and fireworks, here are some festive 4th of July activities that I thought would be fun to do.

Firecracker Cookies. For an easier (less time consuming) version, you could just make a simple sugar cookie, frost it, then sprinkle some pop rocks on top. And unless you are wanting to prank your friends, I would let them know about the pop rocks. ;)

Flag Cake. There are many versions of this online as well. The best one I ever had, was one that mixed cool whip with powdered sugar for the frosting and the bottom was basically a giant sugar cookie. Yum!

Upcycled 4th of July tank. I thought this would be so cute and fun for the 4th. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do one this year. But if I do, I will definitely post some pics!

Now go out and celebrate our freedom! Happy 4th of July!!!
